[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics have unveiled new laptop models featuring advanced artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to mark the start of the new year.
Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro
Samsung Electronics announced on January 1 that it will launch its new laptop, the Galaxy Book5 Pro, in South Korea on January 2. The device is equipped with Intel's latest AI chip, the Intel Core Ultra Processor Series2, which features a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) capable of 47 TOPS (trillion operations per second). This performance surpasses the 38 TOPS of Apple's Neural Engine, M4.
The Galaxy Book5 Pro supports “AI Select,” a first for the Galaxy Book series, enabling quick searches of images or text. Additionally, it will provide Microsoft’s generative AI assistant for Windows OS, Copilot Plus PC, via updates. The device is also packed with AI functionalities for communication, creative tasks, and data searches.
LG Gram 2025 Lineup
LG Electronics has introduced its premium 2025 LG Gram lineup, also powered by Intel’s Core Ultra Processor Series2. A standout feature is its Multi-AI functionality, which integrates both on-device and cloud-based AI services.
The Gram Chat On-Device AI, LG's proprietary on-device AI, performs AI computations locally on the laptop without requiring a network connection, utilizing user activity logs and stored files. Meanwhile, the Gram Chat Cloud service offers AI capabilities based on GPT-4 Omni (4o). Buyers of the new LG Gram will receive a one-year free subscription to Gram Chat Cloud.
Both brands aim to leverage AI advancements to elevate user experiences in their latest products.
