[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] In September, an intern at the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) tragically died by suicide, and it has now been revealed that the MFDS has acknowledged workplace harassment in relation to the incident.

On Monday, the MFDS reported that an investigation confirmed the intern, referred to as A, was subjected to workplace harassment by their supervisor, B. The MFDS conducted an inquiry with staff from the departments where the intern worked and determined that the behavior of supervisor B amounted to workplace harassment. As a result, the case has been referred to a disciplinary committee for further action.

However, the MFDS has yet to establish whether the supervisor's actions were directly related to the intern's tragic death.

The intern, A, tragically jumped from the fifth floor of the MFDS administrative building in Osong, Chungcheongbuk-do, on September 10.

The MFDS has also faced criticism for excluding interns from its internal organizational culture survey conducted in July, sparking controversy.
