[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] HMM announced on the 9th that it has established a new shipping collaboration, the "Premier Alliance," replacing the previous THE Alliance.

This new alliance includes HMM, Japan's Ocean Network Express (ONE), and Taiwan's Yang Ming, all former members of THE Alliance. Notably, Germany's Hapag-Lloyd, the world's fifth-largest shipping company, announced its exit from THE Alliance by 2025. The Premier Alliance will operate for five years starting in February 2025.

The alliance will cover key routes such as Asia to the U.S. West Coast, Asia to the U.S. East Coast, Asia to the Mediterranean, Asia to Europe, and Asia to the Middle East. Detailed service schedules and coverage will be announced later. HMM emphasized its commitment to expanding its global network and providing stable logistics services through a strategic and long-term partnership.

Additionally, HMM will collaborate with MSC, the world's largest shipping company, on the European route through a vessel-sharing agreement. This cooperation will cover nine services between Asia and Northern Europe, as well as the Mediterranean. The vessel-sharing period with MSC will last four years, starting in February 2025, allowing HMM to extend its global network and provide direct services to a broader range of ports.
