[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Coupang has filed an administrative lawsuit to contest the KRW 162.8 billion fine imposed by the Fair Trade Commission (FTC) over allegations of manipulating search rankings and misleading consumers.

According to the retail industry on the 9th, Coupang submitted the lawsuit to the Seoul High Court on September 5, requesting the annulment of the FTC's corrective order and fine payment.

Last month, the FTC sent Coupang a resolution detailing sanctions for violating the Fair Trade Act. The resolution reportedly includes a corrective order demanding that Coupang cease manipulating search algorithms and misleading consumers by promoting its private label (PB) products through employee reviews.

The final fine amount of KRW 162.8 billion is the largest ever imposed on a domestic retailer.
