[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Minyoung] Toyota recalled more than 135,000 Prius hybrid cars in Japan over rear seat opener issues and suspended new orders for the model.

According to Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, vehicles subject to recall were manufactured between November 2022 and April 2024. No accidents have been reported due to defects.

It was not immediately clear whether Prius cars sold outside of Japan were subject to recall.

A Toyota spokesman said the production line, which had been suspended due to Prius car quality checks, would resume production of Corolla compact cars starting Thursday.
