[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Hanmi Science announced on Monday that it had received a court-recommended settlement decision from the Seoul High Court regarding a damages lawsuit filed by former JVM Vice Chairman Kim Jun-ho.
The settlement amount is KRW 15.5 billion, accounting for 1.97% of Hanmi Science's consolidated equity as of the end of 2023.
The court ruled that Hanmi Science must pay KRW 5.5 billion to the plaintiff by March 31, 2024, as compensation for losses related to the sale contract of 1,899,272 JVM shares signed in June 2016.
Additionally, if the plaintiff donates to a public interest foundation he establishes or designates, the foundation must be eligible to issue tax-deductible donation receipts under tax regulations.
Under this condition, Hanmi Science must pay KRW 10 billion, with KRW 1.25 billion due in 2025 and annual installments of KRW 1.25 billion from 2026 to 2032. However, from the 2026 payment onward, an annual interest rate of 3.5% will be applied from January 1, 2026, until full repayment.
