[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] According to reports from Nikkei and NHK on the 16th, Toshiba announced a three-year mid-term management plan called the "Toshiba Revitalization Plan" along with its financial results for the fiscal year 2023 (April 2023 to March 2024), revealing plans to implement a restructuring affecting up to 4,000 domestic employees by March 2027.

The reduction in workforce will target employees across the entire domestic group, with layoffs expected primarily in non-production areas such as general affairs and accounting. Employees aged 50 and above will be eligible for voluntary retirement. Toshiba's workforce in Japan totals around 67,000 employees, making the reduction approximately 6% of the total workforce. The layoffs are expected to be finalized by the end of November.
