[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] In response to a series of accidents at its Pohang Steelworks, POSCO Group has implemented measures to reinforce work discipline among not only executives but also middle management.
According to industry sources on December 1, POSCO has shifted middle managers, including team leaders, from a biweekly four-day workweek to a five-day workweek starting late November. However, employees below the team leader level, such as assistant managers and regular staff, will continue with the current biweekly four-day work schedule.
POSCO initially introduced the biweekly four-day workweek earlier this year, becoming the first in the steel industry to adopt such a system. However, due to deteriorating market conditions, the company reverted to a five-day workweek for executives in June, and this latest adjustment extends the policy to middle management.
The move reflects POSCO's commitment to improving operational oversight and preventing further incidents.
