[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Hanmi Science, the holding company of Hanmi Pharmaceutical Group, announced on Tuesday that outside director Sabongwan has voluntarily resigned due to personal reasons. It was also reported that Kwon Kyu-chan, a non-executive director, has stepped down.
As a result, the number of directors at Hanmi Science has decreased from 10 to 8. The board structure, previously split 5-to-5 between the four-party alliance (Chairman Shin Dong-guk, Chairperson Song Young-sook, Vice Chairman Im Joo-hyun, and Killington Ltd.) and the sibling faction, has been restructured to a 5-to-3 split.
Sabongwan and Kwon Kyu-chan were considered allies of the sibling faction, which includes executive director Im Jong-yoon and CEO Im Jong-hoon of Hanmi Science.
Industry analysts view these resignations as signaling the imminent conclusion of the leadership dispute. On February 3, executive director Im Jong-yoon sold part of his Hanmi Science stake to Chairman Shin Dong-guk, leading to speculation that the management conflict would soon be resolved.
