[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] According to the airline industry and others, Air Incheon, Air Premia and Eastar Jet submitted proposals for the acquisition of Asiana Airlines' cargo business hosted by UBS on the 25th.
Jeju Air, which participated in the preliminary bid and was considered the most likely candidate for the acquisition, did not participate in the main bid.
Korean Air and UBS will select the preferred bidder as early as next month after comprehensively reviewing the final acquisition and funding plans of the three companies that participated in the main bidding.
The sale of Asiana Airlines' cargo business is a prerequisite for the merger of Korean Air and Asiana Airlines.
The EU rival authorities conditionally approved the merger between Korean Air and Asiana Airlines in February, along with the transfer of Asiana Airlines' four European routes and the sale of its cargo division.
