[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] A Homeplus store, embroiled in controversy after foreign substances suspected to be flies and fly larvae were found in chicken recently sold, is expected to receive a "corrective order" from the local government.
According to food authorities and the Masanhoecheon District Office in Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do on the 20th, a consumer who recently ordered chicken from Homeplus Masan branch discovered a fly inside the packaging and white substances suspected to be fly larvae on the fried chicken coating.
Following the foreign substance incident, the Masanhoecheon District Office visited the consumer to investigate the cause, but the product had already been discarded.
At the time, Homeplus sealed the chicken container lids to prevent foreign substances from entering, but it is suspected that the seal was broken, leading to the intrusion of foreign substances.
The Masanhoecheon District Office plans to receive improvement plans from Homeplus by the 24th and issue a corrective order within 14 days based on them.
