[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Korea Zinc has requested an investigation into individuals who have consistently posted defamatory comments and spread false information online about the company and its top executives, the company announced on Monday.

In its submission to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, Korea Zinc also asked authorities to examine whether there is a connection between these individuals and entities attempting a hostile takeover of the company.

According to Korea Zinc, an analysis of posts made in September and October during the public tender period revealed that two users accounted for over 25% of all posts in a stock discussion forum on a major portal site. Additionally, three users were responsible for 40% of posts containing negative keywords. The company also uncovered evidence that multiple users wrote posts using the same IP address.

Korea Zinc suspects that many of the malicious posts and comments were part of a deliberate and organized campaign to defame the company and justify the hostile takeover attempts by MBK Partners and Young Poong, the firm’s key rival.
