[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Minyoung] Lotte Chilsung Beverage Reports Record Revenue of 1 Trillion Won for Q2 and 2 Trillion Won for First Half of the Year
On the 30th, Lotte Chilsung Beverage announced that its consolidated revenue for the second quarter reached 1.992 trillion won, marking a 38.1% increase compared to the same period last year. Operating profit was 60.2 billion won, up 1.8% from the previous year.
Lotte Chilsung Beverage achieved record revenue both quarterly and semi-annually, with quarterly revenue surpassing 1 trillion won for the first time. For the first half of the year, revenue was 2.0361 trillion won, also exceeding the 2 trillion won mark for the first time.
Breaking down by business segment, the beverage division reported second-quarter standalone revenue of 537.9 billion won, unchanged from the previous year, with operating profit decreasing by 26% to 35.4 billion won. For the first half of the year, cumulative revenue was 969.2 billion won, a 0.9% increase from the previous year, while operating profit dropped by 31.6% to 59.3 billion won.
Sales in categories such as carbonated drinks, coffee, bottled water, and juice mostly showed a decline. However, energy drinks saw a 38.2% increase in revenue, and sports drinks experienced a 6.5% rise in sales, driven by the popularity of 'Gatorade Zero.'
Exports of beverages, led by 'Milkis' and 'Aloe Juice,' expanded to over 50 countries, including the US, Japan, and Southeast Asia, increasing by 10.6% from the previous year.
In the alcoholic beverages segment, second-quarter standalone revenue was 202.2 billion won, and operating profit was 3.2 billion won, up 2% and 35.8% respectively from the previous year.
For the first half of the year, cumulative revenue was 417 billion won, a 2.7% increase from the previous year, but operating profit decreased by 20.1% to 15.8 billion won. Even with this, soju (7.5%) and RTD (61.1%) products contributed significantly to performance.
In the global segment, the second-quarter revenue was 385 billion won with an operating profit of 21.1 billion won, representing a 393.6% and 113.3% increase respectively from the previous year. Cumulative revenue for the first half was 696.3 billion won, up 408.1%, and operating profit was 23.6 billion won, a 58.5% increase.
Among overseas subsidiaries, the Philippine branch saw improved operating conditions and strong sales, with revenue increasing by 10.6% to 286 billion won and operating profit rising by 62.2% to 6.7 billion won.
