Han Seong-sook, SME Minister Nominee, Resigns from Naver Advisory Role

[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Han Seong-sook (58), the nominee for South Korea’s Minister of SMEs and Startups, has submitted her resignation from her advisory position at Naver.



According to her confirmation hearing preparation team, Han tendered her resignation to Naver on July 9, with the resignation set to be finalized on July 11.



Han has had a long-standing career at Naver and its predecessor NHN, where she began working in 2007. She held key roles such as Director of Search Quality Center, Head of Naver’s Service Division 1, and Executive Director overseeing Naver's services. From 2017 to 2022, she served as CEO of Naver for five years. At the time of her ministerial nomination, she was serving as a senior advisor to the company.



Han has also pledged to divest all of her Naver shares should she be officially appointed as minister. She currently owns a total of 68,934 shares, including stock acquired through exercised stock options and pre-existing holdings.
