[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Cellumed announced its investment in developing a new, large-scale data center.

The construction of this data center is set to begin early next year in Busan's Eco Delta City, and it is expected to house over 500,000 servers by 2027. The project is valued at approximately 3.6 trillion won and will incorporate eco-friendly technologies aimed at reducing carbon emissions, marking a first for such an initiative in South Korea. Eco Delta City is recognized as a key starting point for over 90% of international undersea optical cables, ensuring high data speed and quality. The location also offers advantages in terms of stable power supply and the availability of digital talent.

Cellumed stated, "The high level of understanding of the data industry by Busan city is expected to enable rapid project advancement with active administrative support."

Previously, in 2012, Busan established the Mieum Data Center pilot complex, used by companies like LG CNS and Microsoft. All permits and approvals for the new project have already been secured.

Cellumed is a biotechnology company engaged in medical devices, biologics, and cosmeceuticals.
