LS Cable & System

[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] LS Cable & System announced on the 4th that on the 2nd, it began construction of a bus duct factory for high-capacity power distribution systems and an electric vehicle battery component factory in Mexico.

The factories are being built on a 126,000-square-meter site within an industrial complex in Querétaro, central Mexico, with a total floor area of 16,800 square meters. Mass production is set to begin in the second half of next year.

LS Cable & System plans to use the Mexico plant as an export hub to target the North American market. Mexico is considered an optimal location due to its low labor costs and the benefits of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).

The bus ducts produced at the Mexico plant will be supplied to electric vehicle, battery, and semiconductor factories, as well as artificial intelligence (AI) data centers. This Mexico plant will be LS Cable & System's fourth bus duct production base, following plants in Gumi, South Korea; Wuxi, China; and its affiliate LS Eco Energy's plant in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The Mexico plant will also produce battery components, such as harnesses for electric vehicles, and will be developed as a key production base for the battery components business alongside the Poland plant.
