[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] The Internal Affairs Office, which is in charge of the Japanese royal family's affairs, created an Instagram account on the 1st. On the opening day, it attracted more than 300,000 followers.

The Palace Administration posted photos of Japanese Emperor Naruhito, Queen Masako and their only daughter, Princess Aiko, appearing at the official event on Instagram.

In this account, you can only press the 'Like' button and not comment. You can't send direct messages (DM) either.

The royal families of major Western countries, including the U.K., are actively communicating with the public through various social media such as Twitter and Facebook in addition to Instagram. The Japanese royal family has released limited photos and videos only on special days such as the birthday of the royal family and the New Year.
