[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Samgyeopsal, which hit the lowest price every winter, is also on an upward curve in March. As of the 11th of this month, the retail price of pork belly was 2,301 won per 100g, up 10.7% from 2,078 won on the 2nd.

As of the 10th, wholesale price of pigs was 5,329 won per kilogram, up 26.2% from 4,222 won on the 29th of last month. Wholesale prices remained stable at around 4,300 won to 4,500 won last month, but rose sharply this month.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs analyzed that price hikes are inevitable because demand for fruits and other agricultural products is constant even if production or supply decreases.

As prices of agricultural and livestock products rise one after another, consumer prices are expected to rise in March following last month.

In particular, pork is considered to be the agricultural and livestock products with the highest weight of consumer price growth. The number of pigs raised and slaughtered this year is expected to decrease from the previous year and continue to rise until November.
