[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] On August 27, Samsung Electronics announced that it has officially started supplying LPDDR4X memory for Qualcomm's premium automotive platform, the Snapdragon Digital Chassis, following the certification of its automotive memory products.
Industry experts view this as Samsung's first collaboration with Qualcomm in the automotive semiconductor sector, potentially enabling long-term supply of LPDDR4X to global automakers and automotive parts manufacturers.
Samsung also plans to begin mass production of its next-generation LPDDR5 memory this year, which will be supplied to Qualcomm's next-generation Snapdragon Digital Chassis.
According to market research firm IHS, Samsung held a 32% share of the automotive memory market last year, ranking second behind Micron's 44%.
Samsung Electronics sees the automotive market as a key area for its memory business moving forward, aiming to strengthen its competitiveness through optimized product development and timely supply.
