[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Baedal Minjok (Baemin) will increase its delivery brokerage fee rate to 9.8% from next month, a 3 percentage point rise.

According to the fee adjustment plan announced by Woowa Bros, the operator of Baemin, on the 10th, the brokerage fee rate for Baemin1 Plus will increase from the current 6.8% to 9.8% starting August 9th. Including VAT, the rate will reach 10.8%.

Baemin's current brokerage fee rate is lower than that of Coupang Eats (9.8%) and Yogiyo (12.5%), which has been considered a competitive advantage. However, with this increase, Baemin's rate will be on par with Coupang Eats. In exchange for raising the brokerage fee rate, Baemin has decided to reduce the delivery cost burden for merchants by 100 to 900 KRW per order, depending on the region. Additionally, Baemin plans to start charging for its subscription service, Baemin Club, which offers free delivery benefits, at a regular monthly fee of 3,990 KRW starting August 9th.
