[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] SEOUL, April 29 — LS Cable & System announced today that its subsidiary, LS GreenLink, has officially broken ground on the largest submarine cable manufacturing plant in the United States, located in Chesapeake, Virginia.

Through this investment, LS Cable & System plans to proactively respond to the U.S. supply chain independence strategy and establish a strong foothold in leading the global energy infrastructure transition. Given the limited production capacity for submarine cables in the U.S., this plant will have significant strategic importance in terms of local procurement expansion and supply chain stability.

The plant will be located on a 396,700 square meter (approximately 120,000 pyeong) site along the Elizabeth River, with a total building area of about 70,000 square meters (approximately 20,000 pyeong).

The facility is set to be completed by the third and fourth quarters of 2027, with mass production scheduled to begin in the first and fourth quarters of 2028. The company also plans to expand the plant as global demand grows. Once fully operational, the expected annual revenue of the plant is projected to be between 600 million to 700 million USD (approximately 860 billion to 1 trillion KRW), with a substantial operating profit margin.

The plant's production facilities will include a 201-meter-high vertical continuous vulcanization (VCV) tower and dedicated port facilities, enabling a world-class infrastructure capable of end-to-end production, transportation, and supply of high-voltage direct current (HVDC) submarine cables.
