[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Mobile carriers will pay subsidies for mobile phone number transfer from the 16th.

According to the Korea Communications Commission and the industry on the 14th, major mobile carriers have completed related preparations with the implementation of the number transfer conversion subsidy system and will be able to make actual payments from the 16th.

Earlier, the Korea Communications Commission approved a bill to enact a "standard for the payment of subsidies for switching numbers when changing mobile telecommunication businesses" in accordance with the revision of the Enforcement Decree of the Act on the Improvement of Distribution Structure of Mobile Communication Terminal Devices.

As a result, mobile carriers will be able to autonomously pay conversion subsidies within 500,000 won in consideration of the expected revenue, the penalty, the cost of issuing SIM cards, and the cost of losing long-term subscription benefits.

Mobile carriers have been rushing to do computer work to reflect subsidies through policy consultations between manufacturers.
