EU Commission Approves Korean Air-Asiana Merger; Air Incheon to Acquire Asiana’s Cargo Division

[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] The European Union (EU) Commission has granted final approval for the merger between Korean Air and Asiana Airlines, officially paving the way for Air Incheon to acquire Asiana Airlines' cargo business.


According to the aviation industry on the 29th, Air Incheon is expediting the final steps, including securing overseas permits and related investments, to achieve integrated operations by July 1 next year.

Through this acquisition and integration, Air Incheon plans to absorb Asiana Airlines’ global cargo network and expand its reach across key markets in the Americas, Europe, and Asia. The company aims to transform into a leading global cargo airline, offering comprehensive cargo transportation services.

Additionally, the integration seeks to maximize operational efficiency between the two companies, enhance the competitiveness of logistics solutions, and establish a sustainable transport model through eco-friendly operations and advanced logistics technology.
