[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Kim Young-seop, CEO of KT, and Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, have agreed to collaborate in the education sector to enhance South Korea's artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.
KT announced on March 26 that it participated in the Microsoft AI Tour in Seoul, where it shared the progress made since signing a strategic partnership with Microsoft in September 2023. The company also revealed plans to collaborate with Microsoft on AI education initiatives aimed at strengthening the country’s AI competencies.
During the AI Tour, both companies unveiled their joint efforts in AI education. Nadella personally announced that Microsoft, in partnership with KT, will launch a nationwide “AI Skilling Initiative.” This initiative aims to expand AI education to the general public, thereby improving AI literacy across South Korea.
Prior to this announcement, the two companies had already reached a consensus on the need to establish an "AI Education Center" and provide specialized AI training programs.
Nadella highlighted KT’s partnership as a key achievement, emphasizing advancements in internal innovation, solution development, and go-to-market (GTM) strategies.
In addition, KT plans to establish an elite AX (AI Transformation) business unit, tentatively named the "AX Delivery Expert Center," which will collaborate with Microsoft specialists to drive AI innovation across South Korea’s industries.
