[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] On the 11th, OB Beer, South Korea's leading beer company, announced its decision to acquire Jeju Soju from Shinsegae L&B. This marks OB Beer’s first entry into the soju business, raising speculation about potential changes in the competitive landscape of the soju market.

OB Beer emphasized that the primary aim of the acquisition is to boost exports of both soju and beer internationally. Jeju Soju has focused on expanding the presence of K-soju in global markets.

With this acquisition, OB Beer plans to accelerate the global expansion of both its flagship beer brand, Cass, and Jeju Soju.
