[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] L&F announced on the 4th that it will enter the battery recycling business through its subsidiary, JH Chemical Industries.

JH Chemical Industries plans to expand its operations into the battery recycling sector, starting with battery preprocessing and then branching out into post-processing. In the preprocessing stage, the purity and processing speed of the black mass (powder obtained from the recovery and crushing of scrap) are crucial. A representative from JH Chemical Industries explained, "With our proprietary technology, we have secured three times the processing capacity of the industry average for recycling batteries."

The company intends to utilize the by-products generated from spent batteries and L&F's cathode production to extract the metals required for cathode manufacturing. Future plans include the introduction of automated processes for battery disassembly once the facilities are expanded.
