[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Naver Pay has expanded its QR payment service to all of mainland China, enabling users to make payments via WeChat Pay. Naver Pay is the first domestic payment provider to offer this feature, following its integration with UnionPay and Alipay Plus QR payments in China starting last September.
With this expansion, Naver Pay can now be used at most QR payment merchants across mainland China. Users can make payments through the Naver Pay app without needing to install a separate app or sign up for additional services, and they can also earn reward points for their transactions.
WeChat Pay uses a Merchant Presented Mode (MPM), where users scan the QR code provided by merchants with their mobile devices. To make a payment, users simply tap the QR payment camera button on the Naver Pay app, scan the WeChat Pay QR code, enter the payment amount, and confirm the payment.
The amount will be deducted from the user's Naver Pay balance or linked bank account, with automatic recharging in increments of 10,000 KRW if the balance is insufficient.
