[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] On the 28th (local time), Berkshire Hathaway, led by Warren Buffett, surpassed a market capitalization of $1 trillion (approximately 1,330 trillion KRW) during intraday trading, according to CNBC, citing data from FactSet.
Berkshire Hathaway is the first American company outside the Big Tech sector to join the prestigious '$1 Trillion Club.'
In early trading on the New York Stock Exchange, Berkshire's stock rose by over 1% compared to the previous session. The company's stock has surged by over 28% this year, significantly outperforming the S&P 500 index's gain of 18%, as reported by CNBC.
However, there are concerns that as Berkshire grows larger, opportunities for major new acquisitions that could sustain its growth are becoming increasingly limited. This suggests that maintaining the same level of growth as in the past may be challenging.
With few suitable investment opportunities, Berkshire's cash and short-term Treasury holdings increased from $189 billion (about 252 trillion KRW) at the end of March to $276.9 billion (about 370 trillion KRW) at the end of June.
