[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] The Incheon Airport Customs has decided to replace the promotional ambassador, girl group NewJeans, which was appointed last March. NewJeans' promotional photos (banners) at the Incheon Airport arrival hall will no longer be displayed, and there is speculation that other popular girl groups like Aespa or IVE may take their place.

According to reports from The Seoul Economic Daily on Thursday, the Incheon Airport Customs confirmed that it did not renew its one-year contract with NewJeans and has ended the partnership.

NewJeans was appointed as the official promotional ambassador on March 22nd of last year. At the time, they had built a global fanbase and were gaining the highest recognition and popularity among South Korean girl groups, making them a highly anticipated choice for the position. NewJeans was consistently ranked in the top 1-2 of the 4th generation girl group popularity charts, which led the Customs to invest significant effort in their appointment.

However, just a month after the appointment, a management dispute arose between Min Hee-jin, the CEO, and the agency HYBE, which caused a controversy and had a negative impact on NewJeans' activities. This dispute led to significant restrictions on their role as ambassadors. Furthermore, NewJeans is currently involved in a contract dispute with their agency ADOR, resulting in a court order to cease independent activities, leading the group to announce a temporary halt on all activities.
