[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Benedetto Vigna, CEO of the Italian supercar brand Ferrari, visited the SK Seorin Building in Jongno, Seoul.
According to industry sources on Friday, CEO Vigna, accompanied by Ernesto Lasalandra, Chief Research and Development Officer, visited the SK Seorin Building that day.
SK On has maintained a strong business relationship with Ferrari. Since 2019, the company has supplied batteries for various Ferrari models, starting with the SF90 Stradale, the brand's first plug-in hybrid (PHEV).
The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) last March to innovate battery cell technology and expand their areas of collaboration. In June, SK On was selected as a key battery supplier for Ferrari.
Ferrari is set to launch its first electric vehicle in October. CEO Vigna is said to have discussed battery supply with Lee Seok-hee, CEO of SK On, as part of preparations for the company's electric vehicle venture. Given their existing business ties, it is highly likely that SK On batteries will be used in Ferrari's first electric vehicle.
