[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] According to industry sources on the 15th, police from the Gyeonggi Southern Provincial Police Agency's Industrial Technology Security Investigation Unit recently conducted a raid on Daehan Cable's headquarters and offices. The raid is part of an investigation into allegations that LS Cable & System, the leading domestic wire and cable company, had its submarine cable technology leaked.
Police plan to examine internal documents seized during the raid to determine whether LS Cable & System's submarine cable technology was indeed leaked to Daehan Cable. Earlier, police had initiated criminal investigations into officials from Daehan Cable and construction design company A on suspicion of violating the Act on Fair Competition. It was alleged that during a period when A had been entrusted with constructing LS Cable & System's cable factory in the past, they obtained information related to LS Cable & System's high-voltage submarine cable technology and diverted it to Daehan Cable.
A police official stated, "We cannot provide detailed information regarding the ongoing investigation at this time."
