[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] A recent cyberattack targeting Microsoft software has reportedly impacted over 100 organizations, including government agencies and private companies in the United States, Germany, and other countries.
According to Reuters and other sources, Microsoft issued a security alert on July 19 regarding its enterprise collaboration platform, SharePoint. The software is widely used by corporations and institutions for document sharing and workflow automation.
The attack raises concerns over the potential exposure of internal documents and the manipulation of sensitive information. While Microsoft has not disclosed the specific origin or full scope of the breach, cybersecurity experts warn that advanced persistent threat (APT) groups may have exploited vulnerabilities within SharePoint to gain unauthorized access to systems.
Authorities and IT security teams across affected regions are currently assessing the extent of the damage and working to implement urgent mitigation measures.
