[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Hanwha Ocean announced on the 22nd that it has signed a ship maintenance agreement with the U.S. Naval Supply Systems Command. Through this agreement, Hanwha Ocean has obtained the official qualification to bid for the U.S. Navy's Maintenance, Repair, and Operation (MRO) projects for the next five years.

The Master Ship Repair Agreement (MSRA) is a contract between the U.S. government and general shipbuilders for the maintenance and repair of U.S. Navy ships. It is a crucial certification that ensures the quality and reliability of ship maintenance for the U.S. Navy. Companies that obtain the MSRA, after undergoing a rigorous evaluation process, are qualified to participate in various maintenance projects for U.S. Navy ships.

Hanwha Ocean significantly shortened the typically more than one-year period required to obtain MSRA certification to just seven months. Hanwha Ocean applied for the MSRA in January this year, underwent an on-site inspection at its Geoje facility in late April, and recently succeeded in finalizing the agreement.

This achievement marks a major milestone for Hanwha Ocean, positioning the company to actively engage in the U.S. Navy's ship maintenance and repair projects, further enhancing its capabilities and reputation in the global defense industry.
