[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] Naver's team is officially kicking off its digital twin project in Saudi Arabia. On the 21st (local time), Naver held a declaration ceremony in Riyadh with the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and NHC to mark the start of the digital twin platform construction project.

The team won the bid for the digital twin construction project from the Saudi Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs in October last year. Since then, they have been preparing for the project by analyzing local conditions and establishing detailed practical agreements with partners.

Naver plans to build a digital twin platform through the mapping and precise 3D modeling of major Saudi cities. This platform will support key services such as urban planning and flood simulations in collaboration with Korea Water Resources Corporation and LX. The team aims to expand partnerships and explore new use cases, continuously seeking opportunities to create added value.

Naver leverages its proprietary technologies, including the ALIKE solution for creating digital twins of cities with an error range of about 10 cm using aerial photographs and artificial intelligence (AI), and highly scalable indoor space mapping technologies. These technologies allow for the precise replication of both indoor and outdoor spaces, supported by their robust cloud infrastructure.
