[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Hanwha Defense USA, the U.S. subsidiary of Hanwha Aerospace, announced on the 21st that it has appointed Michael Smith, a former Lockheed Martin executive, as its new president.

Smith, the newly appointed president, is an aerospace and defense industry expert with over 20 years of experience, having worked at the U.S. Navy, Lockheed Martin, HII, and BAE Systems.

In light of the surge in weapon demands from NATO member countries due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Hanwha Aerospace is actively pursuing North American market entry through the sale of weapon systems like the K9 self-propelled howitzer and joint development of next-generation weapon systems.
