[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Minyoung] Ottogi announced on the 16th that it will raise the prices of 24 products, including home meal replacements (HMR), curry and black bean powder, and ketchup sold in large supermarkets and convenience stores, by up to 15%.
The products affected by the price increase include "3-Minute Curry," "3-Minute Beef Curry and Black Bean Sauce," powdered curry and black bean sauce, cream and beef soup, pure pepper, roasted sesame, and sesame oil. These are the same products for which a price increase was decided late last year but later retracted.
An Ottogi representative explained, "We increased the price of ketchup by 7% and pepper by 15%, with an average price increase of 10% for the major products."
In large supermarkets and discount stores, prices for ketchup, spaghetti sauce, pepper, sesame oil, and roasted sesame will rise starting on the 30th. In convenience stores, the prices of HMR products, ketchup, spaghetti sauce, and pepper will increase from the 1st of next month.
Ottogi stated that the price increase for ketchup and spaghetti/pasta sauces was due to the rise in the cost of raw materials, including tomato paste.
Ottogi had initially planned to raise the prices of 24 products on December 1st last year, but the price increase was retracted following a government request to refrain from raising prices.
