[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] The eldest son-in-law of the LG family, Kwan Yoon, CEO of BlueRun Ventures (BRV), has been revealed to have financially supported a personal acquaintance in South Korea for a decade. Yoon is the husband of Koo Yeon-kyung, the eldest daughter of the late Koo Bon-moo, former chairman of LG Group, and currently the head of the LG Welfare Foundation.

According to business and legal circles on the 14th, this information was disclosed in a ruling by the Tax Tribunal in December 2022. The ruling came after Yoon filed an appeal against the National Tax Service's decision to impose additional comprehensive income tax on him.

The decision stated, "The claimant (Yoon) has been maintaining a private relationship with a personal acquaintance in South Korea from around 2010 to 2019, during which time he provided financial support, including living expenses and tuition for the acquaintance and their children, and allowed them to use an apartment rent-free."

After the Tax Tribunal dismissed his appeal, Yoon filed a lawsuit with the Seoul Administrative Court in March of last year.

Yoon, who holds U.S. citizenship, is facing accusations of tax evasion involving about 12.3 billion KRW ($9 million) in unpaid comprehensive income tax. Additionally, suspicions regarding nationality forgery have emerged during the ongoing legal proceedings.
