[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] The government has decided to reduce radio wave usage fees for small and medium-sized MVNO operators this year.
The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 26th that it will implement an amendment to the Enforcement Decree of the Radio Wave Act.
The revision of the enforcement ordinance is meaningful in that it will improve consumer-centered regulations and ease the economic and administrative burden on users of radio waves.
First of all, the government decided to extend the reduction of radio wave usage fees for resale phone operators.
Small and medium-sized affordable phone operators will be fully exempted from radio wave usage fees this year in order to activate MVNO, which has provided mobile phone plans that are more than 30% cheaper than existing mobile carriers. The reduction rate will be gradually adjusted to 80% from next year and 50% from next year.
