[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] SK Hynix announced on the 2nd that it participated in 'CXL DEVCON 2024,' held in Santa Clara, California, from the 30th of last month for two days.

CXL DEVCON, held for the first time this year, is a developer conference hosted by the CXL Consortium, composed of over 240 global semiconductor companies. The majority of companies belonging to this organization participated in this event to showcase their latest technologies and research results.

Compute Express Link (CXL) is a technology that integrates different interfaces for devices such as memory, storage, and logic semiconductors into one within a system.

At this event, SK Hynix introduced various CXL products to strengthen its leadership in AI memory technology under the slogan 'Memory, The Power of AI.'

Firstly, SK Hynix unveiled the performance of CMM (CXL Memory Module)-DDR5 during the event demonstration. This product showed effects such as up to 50% improved bandwidth and up to 100% expanded capacity compared to existing systems equipped with only DDR5 DRAM.

SK Hynix emphasized that the HMSDK, software supporting CMM-DDR5, can drastically improve system performance by reallocating data to suitable memory devices based on usage frequency.

Another product, 'Niagara 2.0,' is a CXL pooled memory solution that combines multiple CXL memories. This solution is known to eliminate idle memory and reduce power consumption.

In the presentation session at the event, Choi Won-hwa, SK Hynix's DE, explained the background of CXL adoption, components of the product, research cases, and performance.
