[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Amid Hyundai Motor's record-high performance last year, it plans to continue its growth centered on electric vehicles by maintaining a profitability-oriented strategy despite the business environment with increased uncertainty this year.
In particular, the company aims to strengthen its leadership in global electrification based on the expansion of sales of eco-friendly vehicles such as electric vehicles by making all-out efforts to respond to the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).
Hyundai Motor said in a conference call at its headquarters in Seoul on Wednesday that it recorded 3,942,925 units in annual sales, 142.5275 trillion won in consolidated sales and 9.8198 trillion won in operating profit last year. Sales and operating profit rose 21.2% and 47.0%, respectively, year-on-year, the highest ever.
Hyundai Motor Co. has set its global sales target for this year at 4.32 million units, up 10 percent from last year.
Based on expanding sales of major electric vehicle lineups such as Ionic 6, we aim to sell 330,000 electric vehicles this year, up 54% from last year, Hyundai Motor said. "Through this, we will continue to prepare for electrification conversion and implement mid- to long-term carbon neutrality."
