[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Dongwon Industries has started to acquire McDonald's Korea.
According to the distribution industry on the 5th, Dongwon Industries participated in the preliminary bidding for the sale of McDonald's Korea on the 17th of last month. Dongwon Industries conducted its first due diligence last week, and the sale price offered by McDonald's is said to be around 500 billion won.
McDonald's headquarters selected Mirae Asset Securities as its organizer in June last year to sell its stake in McDonald's Korea and domestic business rights.
Dongwon Industries's push to acquire McDonald's is the first large-scale investment decision made after reorganizing the group's governance structure. If Dongwon Industries succeeds in acquiring McDonald's, it will have exclusive rights to McDonald's Korea. As a result, Dongwon Industries is expected to strengthen its restaurant business and maximize synergy with food and beverage affiliates.
