[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] The Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) announced on the 15th that it will supply 1 trillion won worth of electric eVTOL aircraft part to Eve Air Mobility, a Brazilian air traffic (UAM) company. Eve is an urban air transportation (UAM) company founded by Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer.
With this supply contract, KAI will be in charge of producing and mass-producing file-run prototypes, a key structure of eVTOL. The total contract size is 1 trillion won and the contract period is until the production of Eve's eVTOL model is completed. Eve is developing eVTOL with the aim of commercial operation in 2026. The aircraft can accommodate five people, including one pilot. The flight distance is 100km, and it will be operated by air taxis in the US and Brazil markets. Eve has a letter of intent to purchase 2,850 units.
By participating in the eVTOL project, KAI plans to upgrade production technology in the future aviation mobility (AAV) sector and push to enter the global market. KAI selected the AAV business as one of the six future projects in the 'Global KAI 2050' vision in January.
