The Fair Trade Commission Conducts On-Site Investigation of Cuchen and Bodyfriend to Verify Subcontracting Abuses

[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] The Fair Trade Commission (FTC) has launched an on-site investigation into kitchen appliance company Cuchen and healthcare company Bodyfriend.

According to related industries on the 19th, the FTC conducted on-site investigations at the headquarters of Cuchen and Bodyfriend. The purpose is to verify whether these companies have engaged in abusive practices against subcontractors, such as non-payment of fees.

Previously, both companies were sanctioned by the FTC. Cuchen was found to have passed on technical data of printed circuit board assemblies received from subcontractors to a third party on four occasions between March 2018 and January of the following year to obtain approval for delivery.

As a result, the FTC concluded that Cuchen had improperly used the technical data received from subcontractors based on transactional trust for purposes unrelated to the initial agreement and imposed a corrective order along with a fine of 922 million won.
