[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Hankook Tire & Technology announced on the 16th that it will supply its "Ventus S1 evo Z" tires as original equipment for BMW's high-performance 7th-generation M5 sedan.
Hankook Tire collaborated with BMW to develop tires suitable for the heavier M5 model compared to its predecessor. The company explained that the development and verification process took three years.
The Ventus S1 evo Z was designed with a focus on reducing rolling resistance and improving fuel efficiency, tailored for high-performance sedans. It maintains a wide gap between the contact surface and tread blocks for driving stability, even under increased loads. Additionally, an aramid hybrid belt was reinforced to handle the heavier weight of the M5. The 7th-generation M5 is equipped with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system, which adds to the vehicle's overall weight compared to traditional internal combustion engines.
