[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Naver announced on the 27th that Lee Hae-jin, Naver's Global Investment Officer (GIO) and founder, along with CEO Choi Soo-yeon, met with Nvidia's CEO Jensen Huang on the 25th (local time) in the United States to discuss "Sovereign Artificial Intelligence (AI)."

According to Naver's official Instagram account, key executives from Team Naver, including GIO Lee, CEO Choi, and Naver Cloud CEO Kim Yoo-won, met with CEO Huang at Nvidia's headquarters in the US. They discussed the importance of diverse Sovereign AI, which reflects the cultures and values of different regions, and the strategies for building AI models.

Building Sovereign AI is a large-scale project that requires high-performance GPU-equipped data centers, robust power grids, data pipelines and ecosystems, and processes to apply these to actual services. Therefore, close partnerships between major companies are essential.

Naver stated, "Both companies have been emphasizing the importance of Sovereign AI from an early stage. We plan to work closely together to develop diverse AI models that respect the culture and values of each region."

Naver also reported that during the meeting, GIO Lee emphasized the necessity of Sovereign AI and that both companies agreed on the need for close collaboration among companies with relevant capabilities to spread Sovereign AI.

The meeting aimed to explore synergies between Nvidia, which provides hardware infrastructure for building national AI models, and Naver, which possesses the fundamental technology to develop super-scale AI models from scratch. Naver is the only domestic company that has built a super-scale AI model based on languages other than English and Chinese and has established a cloud-based AI industry ecosystem.
