[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] Hanwha Q CELLS, the solar division of Hanwha Solutions, announced on October 2 that it has sold its solar power project, which was under development in Washington state, to local energy company Puget Sound Energy (PSE). The project has a capacity of 142 megawatts (MW).

Hanwha Q CELLS undertook initial development work, including site selection and permitting, for the solar power project. Even after selling the project rights, the company plans to continue supplying equipment and will manage the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) aspects of the project. The EPC phase is set to begin next year, with completion expected by the end of 2026. PSE aims to commence commercial operations in December 2026, supplying renewable energy to over 30,000 households.

In addition to manufacturing solar panels, Hanwha Q CELLS is actively developing renewable energy projects and constructing related facilities. This diversification strategy comes in response to significant price drops in solar modules due to low-cost competition from China.
