[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] SSG.com, the e-commerce platform under Shinsegae Group, is set to move its headquarters from Gangnam to Yeongdeungpo in February next year.

According to the retail industry on October 2, SSG.com announced internally that it will relocate to Yeongdeungpo next February. The new headquarters will be located in the KB Yeongdeungpo Tower, a building with five underground floors and eight above-ground floors situated at the Yeongdeungpo Market intersection. SSG.com will occupy the building exclusively along with its subsidiary, the online fashion platform W Concept.

Yeongdeungpo Tower is a recently completed new building, conveniently located near subway stations such as Yeongdeungpo Station on Line 1, Yeongdeungpo Market Station on Line 5, and Mullae Station on Line 2. The proximity to various lifestyle amenities, including Shinsegae Department Store, E-Mart, and Times Square, is also seen as a significant advantage.

After separating from E-Mart in 2018 to become an independent entity, SSG.com initially operated from Centro Polis in Jongno, then moved its headquarters to Center Field in Yeoksam-dong in July 2022 alongside W Concept.

Since its establishment, SSG.com has struggled to achieve profitability, prompting a shift towards profitability-focused business restructuring and stringent cost-cutting measures beginning last year. The move to the new Yeongdeungpo headquarters is part of this ongoing process, with reports indicating that the rent for the new location is less than half that of the current Center Field.
