[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Hyundai Motor Company has achieved a historic milestone at the 2025 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, capturing a total of five awards—including the coveted Grand Prix—with its short film Night Fishing, starring actor Son Suk-ku.
The 10-minute snack movie, directed by Moon Byung-gon—winner of the 2013 Palme d'Or for short films—won the Grand Prix in the Entertainment category on June 17 (local time). It later secured a Silver Lion in the Film category on June 20, further recognizing its bold storytelling and creative execution.
Set at an EV charging station, Night Fishing unfolds a suspenseful mystery with an unexpected twist, filmed from the perspective of an in-vehicle camera. Son Suk-ku not only stars in the film but also participated as a co-producer.
In addition, Hyundai's CSR campaign Tree Correspondents, which leveraged AI technology and first-person storytelling from the perspective of trees, earned two Gold Lions and one Silver Lion in the Digital Craft category. The campaign was also shortlisted in eight categories, highlighting Hyundai’s innovative approach to digital marketing and environmental storytelling.
