[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Toss Securities experienced a system malfunction in the early hours of May 13, disrupting access to its mobile trading system (MTS) just as the U.S. stock market saw a significant rally. The outage caused inconvenience and frustration among investors looking to capitalize on the market upswing.
According to the company, a system maintenance pop-up appeared on the MTS platform starting at 11:56 p.m. KST, lasting for approximately eight minutes. During this time, some users were unable to access the service.
The issue was isolated to the MTS, while the web trading system (WTS) remained fully operational. However, because the glitch occurred during active U.S. trading hours, investor dissatisfaction quickly mounted.
This marks the second disruption within four days for Toss Securities, following a similar incident the previous week.
As investor interest in overseas markets continues to grow, particularly during key trading hours, reliability of trading platforms has become increasingly critical. The repeated technical issues have prompted concerns about the platform's stability and risk management.
Toss Securities has not yet issued a formal apology or compensation notice as of this writing.
