[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] For the first time since its foundation, POSCO Future M is building an integrated cathode and anode materials research center in Sejong City. This is based on the judgment that integrated research and development (R&D) is necessary to prepare for the future as the demand for secondary battery materials is explosively growing.

The research center is expected to be completed next month at the earliest and start full-scale operation from October.

According to the industry on the 15th, POSCO Future M is currently constructing an integrated cathode and anode material research center on the site next to the anode material plant 2 located in Sejong.

It is the first domestic company to establish an integrated research center for anode and cathode materials. Until now, POSCO Future M's Cathode Materials Research Center was located in Gumi, and the Anode Materials Research Center was located in Sejong.

An integrated research center will be built in the office building and one laboratory building in the Sejong anode material plant. Construction is expected to be completed in July at the earliest, and research personnel will move in one after another.

Meanwhile, POSCO Future M is the only anode and cathode material producer in Korea. The amount of cathode and anode materials received in the last year has reached 100 trillion won.
